Madidhoo is seeking an experienced and responsible Dhoani Captain to support marine transport and logistics operations.
The role involves the safe operation of vessels used for transporting produce, supplies, equipment and personnel between Madidhoo and other destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and navigate assigned vessels
- Transport passengers, produce, supplies and cargo as required
- Plan and manage voyages according to weather, sea conditions and operational requirements
- Ensure the safety of passengers, crew and cargo
- Supervise boat crew and coordinate loading and unloading activities
- Maintain vessel logs and required operational records
- Monitor the condition of the vessel and report maintenance or technical issues
- Ensure safety equipment and essential supplies are available and in proper condition
- Follow applicable marine safety procedures and regulations
- Coordinate with the Madidhoo team regarding transport schedules and operational requirements
Requirements
- Valid licence or certification appropriate for operating the assigned vessel
- Previous experience as a Dhoani Captain or in a similar marine role
- Good knowledge of Maldivian waters, navigation and local sea conditions
- Strong understanding of marine safety practices
- Ability to manage crew and take responsibility for vessel operations
- Reliable, responsible and able to work according to operational schedules
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with the wider team
Experience in cargo, agricultural supply or inter-island transport operations would be an advantage.
Location
Madidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives
The position will involve regular marine transport between Madidhoo and other islands or destinations depending on operational requirements.
